Every year the race follows a different route that takes riders through rugged terrain, up rocky climbs and down thrilling technical descents. It is an eight-day journey that has, over the years, become a rite of passage for mountain bikers the world over. The race attracts professional and serious amateur entrants from across the planet that participate in two-person teams. It's a test of skill, fitness, partnership, equipment and mettle and provides a rider experience that is a benchmark for world mountain biking.

Multi-Stage · The Karoo
Nedbank Gravel Burn
Nedbank Gravel Burn is a 7-day, 750 km/466 mile full-service gravel stage race through South Africa's diverse landscapes. The route explores the breathtaking Great Karoo – a famously vast, semi-desert region. Riders rest each night in remote 'Burn Camps' under star-filled skies and, in a dramatic finale to the week, are greeted by Africa's iconic Big 5 wildlife.
It all begins in the historic town of Graaff Reinet, the fourth-oldest town in South Africa. Nedbank Gravel Burn 2026 then blazes a trail across the vast Great Karoo. Riders tackle many challenging mountain passes along the seven-day route and their just reward came with the breathtakingly beautiful and contrasting scenery – from arid semi-desert to coastal topography to iconic African bushveld, as the race reaches its conclusion at Shamwari Private Game Reserve.
Our clients then rest, recooperate and enjoy their stay at this prestigious private game reserve, or jet off to other parts of the country for more of Africa.

The FNB Wines2Whales is more about the journey than the destination, but no matter your inclinations or ambitions, you're guaranteed a fun-filled, action-packed three days of riding alongside many like-minded people.
The FNB Wines2Whales also offers The Pinotage Race. A unique and dedicated E-Bike event. The E-Bike Open is for any team with one, or both, teammates on an e-bike. This is a great option for first timers or those wanting to ride casually and then go on to their private game reserve or winelands tours afterward.
